Grief Support

As a grief educator (certification with David Kessler of Grief.com), I am trained to walk with others in their grief.  This is a beautiful accompaniment to my spiritual direction training and a natural outgrowth of my own grief story: my dad died suddenly when I was 15 years old, a best friend from college fell to her death on a mountain climb at age 38, and astoundingly, both my siblings died of their addictions—my brother Jimmy died of an accidental overdose when he was 34, and my sister died of alcoholism when she was 45.

Because of the hard work I have done my whole life to integrate those losses and continue to heal, I feel particularly equipped and specifically qualified to help others in their grief.

For you and your grief education and support, I am committed to holding a safe space, hearing your story, avoiding platitudes, welcoming real and sometimes raw emotions, and sharing best practices for walking through grief. As David Kessler says, Witnessing grief has the power to make someone feel supported, safe, and seen. It’s reassuring to have one’s grief seen and to know that it is a normal part of the human experience, and it doesn't have to be secretive or solitary.

Grief support can take place individually or in a group setting, gathering with others who are also navigating life after the death of a loved one.

Please note, that I am not a therapist or a counselor, although I am a huge fan! The grief support and education I offer are for those who are looking for accompaniment and encouragement, to learn about best practices and have a witness to their grief.
